Introducing Nanoconda FIX: A Direct Path to CME

Nanoconda now offers a FIX 4.4 API for CME trading, built for traders and firms that want a fast, simple, predictable connection to CME Group markets.

If you already trade over FIX, connect your existing strategy, OMS, EMS, or trading application to Nanoconda. If you are moving beyond a retail or proprietary trading API, Nanoconda FIX gives you an industry-standard interface without requiring you to take on a traditional institutional connectivity setup.

Your application connects to the Nanoconda FIX gateway in Aurora, Illinois, and we handle the path from FIX to CME.

  • FIX DMA trading session: $595/month
  • Market data API: $250/month per DCM
  • No Nanoconda per-order routing fees
  • No Nanoconda per-contract technology fees
  • Full capacity of the underlying CME iLink session, subject to CME limits
  • Under 10 microseconds from FIX message receipt at Nanoconda to the CME matching engine

If your system already speaks FIX, there is no need to adopt a proprietary trading API or change the way your trading application is built.

Connect Your Trading Application to CME Over FIX

FIX is widely used across professional trading systems because it provides a standard interface between trading applications and execution infrastructure.

For existing FIX users, connecting to Nanoconda means keeping the application you already use and changing the path to CME.

For traders moving beyond a retail broker API or proprietary platform, FIX provides a standard interface that can stay with your trading system as it grows.

With Nanoconda, your FIX client connects over TCP to our gateway in Aurora, Illinois. From there, the order passes through Nanoconda pre-trade risk and our CME iLink gateway before reaching CME.

Our gateway is located in Aurora, Illinois, colocated with the CME matching infrastructure.

Your FIX application can connect over the network from wherever it already runs. If network latency matters to your strategy, you can run the FIX client on a VPS or server closer to Aurora. The interface does not change.

Once the message reaches our FIX gateway, the complete path from FIX message receipt through pre-trade risk, iLink order entry, and the network trip to the CME matching engine is under 10 microseconds.

Your total order latency also includes the network trip from your FIX application to the Nanoconda gateway.

$595 Per Month, Flat

A Nanoconda FIX DMA trading session costs $595 per month.

The price is not tied to how many orders you send or how many contracts you trade. Nanoconda does not add a per-order routing fee or a per-contract technology fee.

For active trading systems, this keeps connectivity costs predictable as message and trading volume increase.

*Applicable exchange, brokerage, clearing, market data licensing, and other third-party charges are separate.

Use the Capacity of Your CME Session

A fast gateway is less useful if the API becomes the bottleneck.

Nanoconda does not intentionally place a lower application-level message limit in front of your FIX connection simply because you are using FIX. The connection is designed to give you access to the capacity of the underlying CME iLink session.

Actual capacity remains subject to CME session limits, exchange controls, and the risk limits configured for the account.

For algorithmic traders that actively submit, modify, and cancel orders, this matters. Your FIX provider should not become an artificial throttle between your strategy and the exchange.

Standard FIX 4.4

Nanoconda uses FIX 4.4, so existing FIX users can work with a familiar protocol.

The API covers the core trading workflow, including:

  • New orders
  • Cancel and replace
  • Order status
  • Mass order status and mass cancel
  • Execution reports
  • Market data
  • Security lists and definitions
  • Positions
  • Trade capture
  • Drop copy
  • Reconnection and account reconciliation

Supported order types include Market, Limit, Stop, Stop Limit, and Limit IOC.

CME's manual and automated order designation is supported through ManualOrderIndicator (1028).

See the Nanoconda FIX 4.4 Interface Specification for message definitions, tags, session behavior, and implementation details.

Pre-Trade Risk Is Built Into the Execution Path

Every FIX order passes through Nanoconda pre-trade risk before it is sent to CME.

The risk system can enforce price validation, exchange price bands, order quantity limits, exposure limits, and capital limits.

Risk is part of the same low-latency execution path as the FIX gateway and CME order entry. There is no separate remote risk service that the order has to visit before continuing to the exchange.

Market Data API for $250 per DCM

Clients that need market data through the same connection can add it for $250 per month per DCM.

The FIX interface supports market data subscriptions, initial book snapshots, and incremental updates, along with security lists and instrument definitions.

This lets a FIX application use Nanoconda for both trading and CME market data without requiring a separate proprietary API.

*Applicable exchange market data licensing fees are separate.

Recover Orders, Positions, and Fills After a Disconnect

A production FIX connection also needs to deal with restarts and network interruptions.

After reconnecting, clients can query account state.

The interface provides access to open orders, positions, and fill history so a trading application can reconcile its local state with the Nanoconda account.

Nanoconda also supports multiple FIX sessions, so trading does not have to be limited to a single connection or a single user. Additional users, systems, or authorized parties can monitor and oversee trading through their own FIX sessions, including read-only access where appropriate.

For example, the primary strategy can trade through one FIX session while separate connections are used by risk, operations, clearing, or monitoring systems to observe account activity without permission to enter or modify orders.

Trading activity can also be monitored through the Nanoconda GUI, giving users another way to view orders, fills, positions, and account activity without requiring every person involved to operate a FIX client.

This makes it possible to separate execution from oversight. The algo can trade through FIX while other users or systems independently monitor the same account through additional FIX sessions, the Nanoconda GUI, or both.

Use the Trading System That Fits You

Nanoconda FIX is intended for proprietary trading firms, algorithmic traders, trading platforms, OMS and EMS providers, and individual systematic traders who want to move beyond retail or proprietary trading interfaces.

If you already have a FIX-capable application, you can connect it directly to Nanoconda.

If you are moving to FIX for the first time, you gain an industry-standard trading interface without needing to build the CME-facing infrastructure behind it.

In both cases, the proposition is straightforward:

$595 per month. Standard FIX 4.4. No Nanoconda routing or per-contract technology fees. Full underlying iLink session capacity. Under 10 microseconds from our FIX gateway to the CME matching engine.
